For startups and product teams in the United States
Remote iOS Developer for US Startups
Senior Swift and SwiftUI developer based in India, working your hours. Eight-plus years, 50+ shipped projects, and a live product serving ten US airports.
How the time difference actually works
India Standard Time is UTC+5:30 all year, and India does not observe daylight saving. That puts me 9.5 hours ahead of New York in summer and 10.5 in winter, and 12.5 to 13.5 hours ahead of San Francisco. In practice it means your morning is my evening.
| Your time | My time (summer) | My time (winter) |
|---|---|---|
| 9:00 AM Eastern (New York, Boston, Miami) | 6:30 PM | 7:30 PM |
| 9:00 AM Central (Chicago, Austin, Dallas) | 7:30 PM | 8:30 PM |
| 9:00 AM Mountain (Denver, Phoenix*) | 8:30 PM | 9:30 PM |
| 9:00 AM Pacific (San Francisco, Seattle, LA) | 9:30 PM | 10:30 PM |
*Arizona does not observe daylight saving, so Phoenix is 9:30 PM IST all year.
So the rhythm is: I keep your morning open for standups, calls and pairing. Your afternoon is my night. My full working day happens while you are offline, and you start each morning with a pull request or a TestFlight build waiting for review. Teams on the East Coast get the widest live overlap; for West Coast teams we agree a fixed daily window. Meeting times are flexible.
Work I have shipped for the US market
AirWait
My own live product on the App Store. It pulls real TSA checkpoint wait times for ten of the busiest US airports, tracks flights with a live boarding countdown, and works out a personalised leave-by time. Swift and SwiftUI, StoreKit 2 subscription, Firebase backend.
PulsePoint Respond
Emergency response app used by public safety agencies across the United States. It alerts CPR-trained citizens to nearby cardiac emergencies with incident mapping, AED locations and real-time activity. Native iOS work on an app where reliability is not optional.
Beyond these, I have delivered offline-first enterprise apps, healthcare tools and productivity apps for clients in the US and elsewhere. About 70 percent of my clients are outside India, with the US among the largest share.
Contracts, payment and paperwork
- Contractor, not employee. You are engaging an independent business based in India for work performed in India. There is no US payroll, benefits or employment tax on your side.
- W-8BEN. US companies normally collect a signed Form W-8BEN from me for their records instead of issuing a 1099. Your accountant can confirm the details for your situation.
- Invoices in USD. Paid by bank transfer, PayPal or Payoneer. Milestone-based for fixed-scope projects, hourly or weekly for ongoing work.
- NDA before we talk details. Send yours, or I can provide one.
- You own the code. On final payment you receive full ownership of the source code and every project asset, and the GitHub repository is transferred to your organisation.
How we work day to day
- Slack for daily communication, Zoom for calls, Jira or Linear for the board. I fit into what your team already uses.
- Your repository, your branching model, your code review. Every change ships as a reviewable pull request.
- Regular TestFlight builds so stakeholders can try the app on their own phones, not just watch a demo.
- I can lead the iOS work end to end or support an in-house developer. Standups happen in your morning.
What I can build for you

StoreKit 2 in-app purchases and subscriptions with server-side verification, shipped end to end.
Firebase and cloud backends
Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions and push notifications designed alongside the app rather than bolted on.
Rescue and modernisation
Taking over an existing codebase, fixing performance and crashes, migrating UIKit to SwiftUI.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the time difference between India and the US slow the project down?
No. India is 9.5 to 13.5 hours ahead of the US depending on your coast and the season, which means your morning is my evening. I keep your morning open for standups, calls and pairing, and the rest of my working day happens while you are offline, so you start each day with new work to review.
Do I need to handle US taxes or a 1099 for you?
You are contracting a business based outside the United States for work performed outside the United States. US companies normally collect a signed Form W-8BEN from me for their records instead of issuing a 1099. Your accountant can confirm the details for your situation.
Can you join our existing US engineering team?
Yes. I regularly work inside existing teams: your repository, your branching model, your code review process, your standups. I can lead the iOS work or support an in-house developer.
Who owns the code?
You do. On final payment you receive full ownership of the source code and all project assets, and the repository is transferred to your organisation.
